D-Ex Guest Spins “Dope On Plastic” On Scion AV Radio Throughout January 2013; Produces Music For ESPN U’s “UNITE”
D-Ex (of Wax Murdaraz) will be holding down the decks for Rob Swift throughout the month of January 2013, spinning on the Dope On Plastic radio show broadcasting on Scion AV Radio (www.ScionAV.com). It should also be noted that D-Ex’s music production work (along with Dr. Butcher, Gudtyme and others) can currently be heard regularly on ESPN U’s weeknight talk show UNITE (featuring Rob Swift as the resident DJ), Monday through Friday at 11pm central standard USA time. On December 8, DJ Vekked from Canada successfully captured the 2012 IDA World Title in the Technical Category. Earlier this year, Vekked also won the DMC Battle For World Supremacy title. It should also be noted that Steve Nash & Funktion from Poland won the Show Category this year at the IDA World competition.
This year’s DMC World Championships took place on September 26 and 27 in Kenish Town, London at the HMV Forum. The much sought after 6-Minute Showcase World title was won by Japan’s veteran representative DJ Izoh, with DJ Precision (X-Ecutioners, USA) and Ritchie Rufftone (UK) coming in at a close 2nd and 3rd place respectively. It should be noted that Izoh was the 2nd place runner-up to the World title in last year’s competition. Also, this year’s World Team Championship was grabbed by The Mixfits (Belgium) while the World Supremacy title was taken by Vekked (Canada).
After months of DJ competitors uploading their battle sets online for the 2012 World DMC Online Championship, France’s own DJ Fong Fong was officially announced the winner on September 4, 2012. Much props go out to Asian Hawk from the United Kingdom for capturing the hard to earn runner-up spot.
Starting August 27, 2012, Rob Swift takes his career and the art of DJing to new heights as a cast member for ESPN’s first late night sports entertainment show, UNITE (ESPN U). UNITE will air Monday through Friday from midnight to 1am (eastern standard time). Congratulations to the Architect!
Roc Raida’s Gong Battle made it’s grand return at Le Poisson Lounge in New York City on August 5, 2011. After many long hours of turntable theatrics, As One (of the Rock Villianz) was able to knock out a victory in the final round against tablist vet Ty Handswell. The Grandmaster would have been proud…R.I.P. GM Roc Raida.
After a very competitive DJ competition at Le Poisson Lounge in New York City on August 4, DJ Precision of the X-Ecutioners won the 2012 DMC USA Finals. DJ I-Dee (of the Trooperz) and DJ Manwell secured the second and third place rankings, respectively. Precision is now set to compete at the DMC World Championships in London on September 27.
The 2012 DMC USA Finals will take place on August 4th at Le Poisson Rouge In New York City. The winner will be flown to London, England to compete in the DMC World Championships on September 28. The 11 USA finalists competing are as follows:
